- The bliss molecule — CBD increases the number of endocannabinoids in the body, especially anandamide. Anandamide has the same structure as THC, which means it can make you feel euphoric, blissful, and joyful.
- Homeostasis and anxiety disorders — CBD stimulates the hippocampus (an area in our brains). Regenerated neurons in this area lower depression.
- GABA receptors — GABA keeps our nervous system in check. If GABA isn’t functioning, we start to feel anxiety. CBD can interact with GABA in the brain and support it, so GABA blocks anxiety symptoms.
Current research also shows CBD is very important for treating anxiety and regulating sleep, mood, stress, appetite, and memory. For example, one study had participants take CBD before they did a simulated public speaking test, and they said they felt more relaxed and less apprehensive.
Is CBD Legal?
Yes, CBD is legal. CBD became legal under the 2018 Farm Bill as long as it has less than 0.3% THC.
